How do I fit into First Assembly?

We know it takes time to find out if our church is the one for you! There are various levels of belonging to the family of First Assembly. With a congregational form of government, we have certain criteria laid out by our Constitution and Bylaws by which we operate as a legal entity, as well as a family that is inclusive of everyone who chooses to identify with us. Here's how it typically goes...

First Family Connection
If you've attended a few services and are wanting to get better acquainted, this is a great place to start! About every six weeks, we have what we call "First Family Connection Time", and you are invited to share an evening of pizza together and get acquainted. During the meeting we cover such topics as “What We Believe” (doctrine), a little of our history as a movement and our vision for the future. You will be given opportunity for questions throughout our informal time together. At the end of the evening we go over our First Family Covenant in case you are interested in becoming a member (See details below). There is no obligation whatsoever. We provide this time to introduce ourselves and share the heart of what First Assembly is all about.

Life Groups
We believe that connecting with others is VITAL to a healthy, fulfilled life no matter what stage of spiritual development you are at. Life groups provide an easier way to build relationships within the church community. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to build relationships by just attending on Sunday and looking at the back of each other's heads. So we offer several different life groups at different times so that you have opportunity to get to know others and build a Christian support system into your life! We believe that this is a Biblical model for discipleship and fellowship, and we know that it adds tremendous value to your walk with Christ. Find out more about connecting with a life group today!

Member
As previously mentioned, you will be invited to a First Family Connection time, where the church leadership will share our vision and Biblical position as a church. Opportunity is given to sign a First Family Covenant if one decides to formally associate with us. We hope that First Assembly will become your church home, and we give you opportunity to become a part of what God is doing here. Membership is designed to be a introductory level to commitment to the church until you are ready for partnership.

Partnership
Partnership is the third phase of being a part of First Assembly. Partners have additional privileges and carry certain responsibilities. Leadership is also chosen from this group. Tithing is a way of life at the partnership level, and voting privileges are given on all major decisions of the church. Commitment is made to a godly lifestyle and refraining from social, spiritual, mental and physical ills and habits that hinder our witness for Christ. Discipline is accepted in a spirit of love as unto the Lord. Most importantly, a partner is one who believes in and is committed to the vision and purpose of First Assembly to impact our region and fulfill what we believe is God’s dream for us to change our world.
