What is life group?
We are all created with a desire to connect with other people in a meaningful way. We can’t escape this intrinsic drive. How do we define life group at Yankton First Assembly? It is simply about being intentional to connect with others and grow together spiritually.
We practice community
Life group is a place where you get to know others. We laugh and enjoy the good times and help each other through the tough times. Jesus said that the world would know we are His followers by the way we love each other. That doesn’t always come naturally, so when we get together, we are experiencing a supernatural touch on our friendships that builds a support system we all need on our journey of faith. It is also about having fun! Sometimes we work together to help others in the community. This environment is also great for people who are new to the church and want to make friends. This is what it means to be a part of the Body of Christ.
We come together to discover truth and learn how to apply it to our everyday lives. We study the Word of God together, but it is not a Bible study where one person teaches and everyone else listens. It’s a great place to ask questions and get feedback. We pray for each other. People who are at many different points in their walk with Christ come together to learn what it means to grow in faith. For us, life groups are an important component of what the Bible describes as making disciples. If someone is wrestling with scripture, a Christian with more experience and knowledge can come alongside them to help them work through it. This journey of faith is one we were never meant to take alone.
