Deal With It
Tommy & Tammy ran down the lane excited that the last day of school was over. Tommy beat Tammy in and began telling Mom all about what happened at the school that day. “We went to the park and had a picnic”, Tammy piped in. The twins took turns telling their Mom all about their day. When they were finished Mom said, “Kids, we’ve decided where we’re going to go on vacation.” Both the twins were so excited. “Dad will tell us at supper.” The twins went to do their chores and couldn’t wait until supper time.
At supper Dad acted like nothing was going on. Finally Tammy couldn’t take it any longer, “Dad, where we going?” After a little while of Dad goofing around with the twins he told them, Niagara Falls. “Really?” “Wow” The twins were so excited.
The next morning the twins got out some vacation brochures of Niagara Falls. “Can we take the boat that goes below the falls, Mom?” asked Tommy. “I’m sure we can.” “Hey there’s a place we can go that is actually behind the falls” Tammy said. The twins talked about all the cool things they were going to do at Niagara Falls. They talked about watching the water flow over the embankment. Mom told them that there was going to be thousands of people there from all over the world. She also told them that they would be traveling into Canada. The twins had so many questions about the vacation. Mom told them that they would be staying at a motel that was close to the falls. She also told them that they would be staying there one week.
The twins had a hard time going to sleep that night. Both were thinking about the vacation that was to happen next week. The plans were being made. They would drive half way and stay over night then drive the rest of the way the next day. They couldn’t think of anything else.
The next day they went to their tree house in the woods and talked about Niagara Falls. “I can’t wait until we go on the boat, which goes close to the falls” said Tommy. Tammy agreed that that was going to be so much fun.
The week went by so slow for the twins. They kept asking Mom and Dad about the vacation. It was now only one day away. The twins were sitting at the table eating a snack when the phone rang. Mom answered it. The twins saw her face get really serious. “Was he hurt?” Mom said over the phone. The twins were on the edge of their chairs trying to figure out who Mom was talking to. Once Mom got off the phone she told the twins to get in the truck. Mom was already heading there herself and in no time they were headed down the road. The twins were asking Mom questions but she didn’t answer. They all got really quiet because they knew something was really wrong.
Mom arrived at the highway where the patrolman told her to go. As they approached the scene the twins saw the police lights. Mom got tenser. The patrolman didn’t give her any information on the phone only the directions where to go. Mom thought, I don’t see an ambulance, that’s good. As they approached a police officer came up to her window. “That’s my husband that was involved in the accident.” Mom told the police officer. The police officer then directed her to pull over to the side of the road. Before Mom got out she instructed the twins to stay in the car. It seemed like a long time that Mom was gone, but when she returned Dad was with her. The twins were so relieved. They both got in the car and Mom drove back home. The twins listened as Dad told how the accident happened. A car had pulled out in front of him. “Thankfully no one was injured.” Dad said. But the car is gone, he continued.
That night at supper Dad gave the family the bad news. “I’m sorry kids but we won’t be able to go on vacation.” They were in shock. “Can’t go on vacation?” they both said almost at the same time. Dad explained to them that without a car it couldn’t happen.
The twins were so depressed. For the next couple of days they just moped around. Dad felt really bad but there was nothing he could do about it. That night he sat the family down and began telling them about the story of Joseph.
You see children, things didn’t go right for Joseph but he kept a good attitude and God worked it out. After hearing about the entire thing Joseph went through the twins decided they still had it pretty good. They began thanking God for all the good things they had and their attitude changed.
About a month later Dad came home and said pack your bags we’re going on that vacation. God has really blessed us with a new car. The twins were so excited.
