No Way
Tommy & Tammy were sitting in math class when a paper was being past around. It was a funny picture of the teacher. Tammy watched as Mr. “G” (That’s what the kids called him.) was writing a problem on the board. She was also watching the paper being passed around and she seen the smirks on the kid’s faces. Tammy knew where the paper came from ---- Violet. Violet disrupted the class whenever she could. Just as the paper was put on Tammy’s desk, Violet dropped her Math book. Mr. G turned around. Tammy tried to make the paper disappear but too late. Mr. G walked over to her desk and picked up the paper. He knew the picture was of him with his finger in his nose. Tammy was speechless and didn’t seem to hear Mr. G’s question. So he asked again. “Where did you get this?” Tammy could feel Violet’s eyes beaming into her and fear took over. “I don’t know” Tammy said. “I see.” “Well you will have to stay after school and your parents will have to be called.” Mr. Grant said.
While the twins were walking home Tommy asked her: “Why didn’t you tell on Violet? Now Mr. G thinks you did that and you’re in trouble with Mom & Dad.” “I really don’t know. I guess she made me afraid.” Tammy said. “She wanted to get me in trouble because she dropped her book so Mr. G would turn around. “ “Well you should tell on her.”
The next day at school Violet came right up to Tammy and told her that she would be really sorry if she told on her and then pushed her to the ground. Tammy started to get angry, so Violet knocked her books out of her hand. Something overtook Tammy at that moment and she set out to “get Tammy back”.
After school Tammy talked to Tommy about it and together they decided to do something to her. “We’ll have to think of something that really gets her.” Tammy said. “Yea, let’s do that.”
Monday morning came and as usual Dad asked the twins what they had learned at church the day before. “We talked about the story of David and Saul. Saul treated David really bad and wanted to kill him. David didn’t hurt Saul even when he had the chance when they were in side a cave. Saul was sleeping and David could of killed Saul but instead he cut a piece off his clothes,” the twins said as they took turns telling the story. Both rushed off to school still thinking about what they were going to do with Violet.
Third period came and Tammy watched Violet. She forgot her history book in class. Tammy picked it up and handed it to Tommy. They got together at lunch and opened the history book. Just as they were going to take out her history worksheet and put crazy answers on it, a page fell out. Tommy picked it up and read it. It was a letter to Violet’s Dad.
“Listen to this.” Tommy said.
Dear Dad
I was so glad to see you on Sunday. The visitation room smelled though and I wish I had some coins to get a candy bar. I’m glad you might be getting out next spring, but I know it’s up to the parole board. The kids next to us were really loud. They kept on running into our table and it was no wonder you got upset. I don’t know why the guard had to discontinue our visit, it was the other kids. Thanks for the leather bracelet, I’ll always wear it. I’ll see you this Sunday that is if Mom lets me.
Violet
Just at that moment Tammy thought about the conversation that they had with their own Dad that morning and how David didn’t hurt Saul even when he could. “Tommy, I feel bad about wanting to hurt Violet. We shouldn’t do it. I’m going to give her history book back to her right now.” Tammy walked the book over to where Violet was sitting. She noticed the leather bracelet on her wrist. “Here is your history book; you left it in science class.” Violet kept her head down and didn’t say anything. “Violet would you like to come over to my place?” Tammy said. Violet lifted her head with a shocked look on her face. “I don’t know, I’ve never been asked that question before.” “Well if you ever want to you’re sure welcome to and we could just talk.” Tammy headed back to her seat. She felt really good about doing the right Bible thing. Tammy decided she would really pray for Violet and try to be her friend.
Violet did come over later that week and she opened up about her Dad. Violet changed that day and although Tammy and Violet didn’t become really good friends, Violet wasn’t mean towards her any longer.
