Adventure Twins

Tommy & Tammy

               The Adventure Twins

What Ever

Tommy & Tammy lived out in the country by a wooded area.  They spend a lot of time in the woods, imagining adventures.

It was the last day of school and the twins were so excited because two things were happening:   Sam was able to spend a week at the twin’s home & Uncle Jack was going to be there.  Uncle Jack loved to do a lot with the twins and Uncle Jack would think up fun adventures.

The twins and Sam got on the bus at school.  “This is going to be a lot of fun” said Sam.  Tommy interrupted Tammy as she was starting to answer Sam and said, “Oh, yea, Uncle Jack has a lot of fun planed in the woods.”   “The woods?” said Sam.  Tammy piped in saying, “We play in the woods all the time.”  Jack got really quiet then.

The bus stopped at the twin’s lane and all three kids got out.  As they were walking down the lane Sam & Tommy started throwing rocks into the trees.  As they walked in the house Tommy said, “Hi Mom, is Uncle Jack here?”   “Not yet, Your snacks are on the table.”  As the kids began to eat their snacks Sam said, “I’ve got a great new game for my WII, it’s called mega Fishing.” said Sam.  “Wouldn’t you actually like to fish?”  Mom said.  Sam didn’t say anything.

Just at that time Uncle Jack walked in.  Both the twins ran up to him and gave him a hug.  He reached in his pocket and gave each of the twins a piece of candy.  He then held out one for Sam.  “We’re going to have a lot of fun” Jack said.  “What do you have planned?” Tommy asked.  “Mystery, in the woods   You’ll have to figure it out.”  The twins loved that.  But Sam was still quiet and he began looking a little sad.  Uncle Jack noticed that Sam was quiet.

They stayed up late that night. Dad had to actually tell them to shut the lights off.   When they got up in the morning both the twins got out their Bibles and did their devotions before breakfast like they did every morning.  Sam asked them what they were doing, so the twins told him.  “Devotions” said the twins.   Sam told them that he’s never did that.  Uncle Jack was listening and thinking about what Sam was saying.  Uncle Jack thought to himself, “I’ll have to teach Sam about Jesus & the Bible.”  At that Uncle Jack took off for the lake.

After the kids ate, they did their chores as fast as they could.  When they were done, they went to look for Uncle Jack but he was gone.  “He said he’d be back right after lunch.” Mom said.  “Hey Sam do you want to explore the woods?” Tommy said.  “No, I’d rather play my game.”  “Kids why don’t you just wait for Uncle Jack and then go after lunch” Mom said.  “OK” the twins said in unison as Sam went to get play his game.  The twins sat there looking bored as Sam really got into his game.

After Lunch Uncle Jack came and handed the twins a piece of paper” Tommy asked, “Is this part of the adventure?”  Uncle Jack then handed them a map with this riddle:  Down by the Lake, for heavens sake you’ll have to find it by using your wit.  At that Uncle Jack headed out the door and into the woods.

The twins had a hard time getting Sam to go with them.  But reluctantly Sam went with the twins.  “It’s going to be fun” the twins told Sam.  “But wouldn’t you rather play my game.”    All three moved through the woods, being careful as to not have a branch hit them.  As they got closer to the lake they saw something up in a tree.  “What’s that?” Sam said.   “I don’t know”      “It could be another clue.” Tommy said.  Tammy ran faster than the boys and jumped up and grabbed the next clue.

Tammy read it:  “A miracle you’ll see if you believe; if you believe not it’ll be ordinary.

“I wonder what that means.” said Sam.  “Uncle Jack really likes to put us through an adventure.”  Tommy said.  “Let’s look around & see if we can find it.”

They proceed at a slower pace towards the lake.  They were looking all around, looking for anything that might look like a miracle.    All of a sudden they heard a sound.  “What was that?” said Sam.  The twins shrugged their shoulders, because they didn’t know.  It sounded again.  “It’s coming from over there.” said Tammy.   The kids ran in that direction.

They ran on a path through some trees and came out into an opening.  “Look at that.” said Sam.  “How is he doing that?”  Both the twins had a big smile on their face but played along with Uncle Jack.  “It’s a miracle” said Tammy.  Just then Uncle Jack shouted: “Sam, come out here.”  Sam stood there in amazement because Uncle Jack was seemly standing on top of the water.  Both the twins encouraged Sam to go out to Uncle Jack, but Sam wasn’t going to do that.  As they were standing there Uncle Jack walked across the water to where Sam was.

When he got to the shore, Uncle Jack asked Sam if he wanted to hear a true life story of a person walking on water.  Sam was very excited to hear about that, so Sam told the children the story of Jesus walking on water and Peter coming to him. “Just like I asked you to come out, Jesus told Peter to come.”  Jack said.  “Did he?” asked Sam.  “Yes, he did and unlike me Peter didn’t have to step on any rocks.”  “Is that how you did that?”  Sam questioned.  After the story Uncle Jack explained to Sam that there were rocks that he stepped on to get out on top of the water, but that Jesus did not use any rocks.

After that Sam wanted to know more adventures from the Bible.  Uncle Jack was more than happy to give all the kids adventures from the Bible all that week that Sam was there.  Sam didn’t want to play his video games all the time he was at the Twins home.
